Abbott: Dan Gilbert's Letter Does Disservice To Cavs Fans

While many Cleveland fans seem to appreciate Dan Gilbert’s open letter, Henry Abbott of ESPN’s TrueHoop writes that Gilbert has “done James the most extraordinary public relations favor imaginable” and that the angry missive will backfire on the team and organization.

You want your leader to make sense, and offer comfort and inspiration. Nothing much was called for here. Gilbert could have been silent. Could have wished James well. Could have said he’s heartbroken. Instead, he went on the attack, talked some trash, called James names.

This is a terrible night for Cleveland fans. Not only did they lose the best player in the NBA, but they also are now attempting to rebuild with a green GM and an owner who just served notice that if push comes to shove, he’ll bail publicly, and profoundly, on his players no matter how well they performed.

Cavs fans: Agree or disagree?

Abbott is a clueless individual from the west coast who has no idea what he is talking about. I’m tired of this politically correct BS. Gilbert is absolutely right; it would be wise for Ohioans to give him their support.

Don't be afraid to fight for your rights!

I thought we fought and won freedom

I guess it’s too bad you cant catch him (LeBron) and cut his foot off, like “Roots” / “sorry Massa another one got away”, or figured out free market meant just that. No one would get mad at D Trump for leaving New York, oh I for got he does own property in other markets, shame on you D T for using your talents and money somewhere other than NY. The title “Owner” went to your head Dan.

Misplaced Outrage

Wow, the more I read, the more I wonder where were these fans were when the Big home grown companies closed and moved off shore, taking what really matters – livelyhoods of Ohioans.

Jesse Jackson

I used to like Jesse Jackson(but he had a baby with his mistress), so he lost all of my respect, we hadn’t seen him in the news, so he needed some face time LOL but he is way off. It was not a black thing. It was very disrespectful the way LeQuitter did not even give the Cavs (or any other team that cleared out cap space for him) a chance to get any body decent during free agency. The Cavs allowed him to showcase his talent when he was 18 years old. LeBum acts like he is God’s gift to Cleveland. The Fans of Cleveland made him, so we don’t owe him anything including respect. I for one am over him (until he comes back to Cleveland). Thanks for the memories LeBrat, you know that Championship that you never got. LOL THANK YOU DAN GILBERT, IT COST YOU. BUT I AM IN TOTAL AGREEMENT AND YOU SAID WHAT WE ALL WERE THINKING, AND I AM BLACK.

Disservice to Cleveland fans? NO WAY! I for one was happy to see how passionate one of our owners is for his team. In a way, it was comforting to know that he feels the same sting, and then some, as we do. I’m angry at Stern for having the gall to fine an owner who is doing what he can to keep his fan-base in spite of a major personnel loss. I liked hearing his determination. The only thing that would disappoint me more is if he doesn’t make good on his words.

Colt McCoy... the cure for Cleveland's Eric Berry man-crush.
