Gerard Lawson Returns To Practice, Has 'Good Conversation' With Eric Mangini

Cleveland Browns defensive back Gerard Lawson was charged with DUI on Sunday morning, but by Monday he was already back at training camp and meeting with head coach Eric Mangini, reports the Associated Press.

“I told him I was disappointed in him putting himself in that position,” Mangini said. “The value in this and in any experience is what you can learn from it to make sure this type of thing doesn’t happen again — not just him, but anybody in our group.”

Browns DB Charged With DUI

The Browns were hoping to have a quiet Training Camp in 2010 after an off-season saw a renewed hope in the organization. Instead of celebrating Family Day at Cleveland Browns Stadium this weekend, the team awoke to answer questions on the arrest of one of its players.

Gerard Lawson, 25 years old and vying for a integral role on the teams' return units, was arrested Saturday night, charged with driving under the influence.

The arrest came after an 11 p.m. curfew for the losing side of an earlier scrimmage, was won by the "Brown" team, 14-6. Lawson was on the losing side, but decided to blow of his curfew and head out to Cleveland's Warehouse District.   Lawson was pulled over in the area after police officers observed him hit a parked car with his vehicle and continue driving.

The Browns released a statement, saying they were "continuing to gather information" and would withhold any further comment at this time.
