Ohio Vs. Utah State, 2011 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Bobcats Earn First Bowl Victory, 24-23

The Ohio Bobcats won their first bowl game ever on Saturday night, defeating Utah State in the Idaho Potato Bowl, 24-23, thanks to a touchdown in the final seconds.

Ohio trailed 23-17 when they got the ball back for the final time, starting at their own 39 yard line with 2:02 left in the game and a timeout to kill help the clock. Quarterback Tyler Tettleton, son of Mickey, would ultimately scored on a one-yard keeper with 13 seconds left to allow Ohio kicker Matt Weller knock in the game-winning point.

The big play of the winning drive came on a fourth-and-six when Tettleton found senior wide receiver LaVon Brazill (who finished with eight receptions and 108 yards) for a 14 yard completion down inside the one yard line. The play was actually ruled a touchdown on the field, but overturned after all sorts of confusion. Tettleton then crossed the goal line on a second keeper try for the winner.

Utah State led at one point 23-10 and racked up 345 total yards rushing -- the same number of yards Ohio's offense had overall. Michael Smith rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries; Robert Turbin added 101 yards on 20 carries; and Kerwynn Williams rushed for 69 yards on nine carries.

In the end, though, the Aggies  couldn't close the game out in the final minutes, allowing the Bobcats enough time to drive 61 yards in for their first bowl victory ever.
