Stay connected for news and updates

The Kent St. Golden Flahes saved their best for last on Tuesday night against the St. Peters Peacocks, pulling away with a run at the end of the game to win 67-58.

Kent St. trailed 58-57 with 2:31 remaining in regulation and then went on a 9-0 run to finish the game

Justin Greene scored 13 points and Randal Holt added 12 points to lead Kent St. on a cold shooting night. Carlton Guyton shot 1-10 from the field, but made four straight free throws in the middle of the run to end the game.

So while the Golden Flahes made just 34.4% from the field, the win makes it six straight for Kent St., as they improve to 8-1 on the season.

St. Peters, now 2-8, did not figure to trouble Kent St. much, but they led 34-31 at halftime and the teams played a very close-fought, back-and-forth game until Kent St. flexed its muscles over the final two minutes.

Kent St. will not have time for rest, as the Golden Flahes square off against the 4-4 Texas-Arlington Mavericks on Wednesday night.
