Cavaliers' Clutch Play Down The Stretch Pays Off In Win Over Detroit

In a close game, the Cavaliers were able to make the key plays down the stretch last night against the Detroit Pistons, and Cleveland came away with their 14th win of the season with a 97-91 victory which leaves the Cavs one win shy of matching their all-time worst win total, with eleven games left in the season, including their next game on Sunday at the Q against Atlanta.

Baron Davis hit a game-clinching three with less than ten seconds to go after Daniel Gibson had extended a one-point lead to three with a bucket with 1:24 left to go. Detroit had chances to pull closer, but Will Bynum missed twice before Davis hit his shot to give the Cavaliers the winning margin.

J.J. Hickson finished with 24 to lead the way for Cleveland, with Davis adding 16, and with two others finishing in double figures. Hickson added 15 rebounds in a strong double-double to send the Pistons to their 47th loss of the campaign, to go with 25 wins.

Davis and Gibson played the entire fourth quarter as the backcourt combo and seemed to find wonderful chemistry, surprising in that it was only Davis’s fifth game with the Wine And Gold.

Good things a step at a time can add up to very good things in time.

Let’s get win number fifteen against the struggling Hawks before LeBron James and Co. pay their second visit to the Q on Tuesday.
