American tennis star Venus Williams has been forced to withdraw from the Unites States Open with what she is calling "Sjogren's Syndrome", an auto-immune disease that causes her fatigue and joint pain.
The two-time champion had been scheduled to play a second-round match on Wednesday, but had to quit before playing in the national championship tournament in New York.
William beat Vesna Dolonts in straight-sets on Monday to advance to the second round before the ailment got the best of her. This is not the first tourney that Venus has had to withdraw from in 2011, as she also had to skip two hard-court tuneup tournaments earlier this summer.
