The Kent St. Golden Flashes came out on top in a battle against in-state rival and intra-conference rival Miami (OH) RedHawks, winning 71-67 at Memorial A & C Center in Kent on Wednesday night.
Justin Greene led the Golden Flashes with 23 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 blocks while Randal Holt added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Kent St. trailed for the vast majority of the game, and they were even down 57-48 with 11:50 to go in regulation, but they held the RedHawks to just two points over the final five minutes of the game.
With the win, Kent St. improves to 1-1 in the MAC and 11-4 overall, while Miami falls to 0-2 in the MAC and 4-9 overall.
The Golden Flashes take on another team from Ohio next, as they are set to host the 7-7 Bowling Green Falcons on Saturday.
