Cleveland State Vs. Youngstown State Final Score: Vikings Cruise Past Penguins 67-47

The Cleveland State Vikings (14-4, 8-2) kept the spot alone atop the Horizon League standings with a strong 67-47 road win over the Youngstown State Penguins (11-9, 6-4).

After the Penguins took an early two-point lead five minutes into the first half, the Viking wrestled control of the game with a 16-3 run and then put the Penguins on ice early with an 18-2 run to close the half up 41-19. Youngstown State was never able to mount a run of their own as Cleveland State cruised through the second half to secure a comfortable and impressive road win.

Anton Grady sparked the Vikings off the bench, leading the way with a game-high 14 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Trevon Harmon made 3 of 6 three-point shots to add 10 points and five rebounds, while D'Aundray Brown fueled the defense with six steals.

Blake Allen scored 11 points for Youngstown State while forward Damion Eargle added 10 points, six rebounds and five blocked shots. The Penguins were undone by a poor shooting effort which included trying to use the three-point shot to start a comeback but only making four of 24 shots from behind the arc.

Cleveland State Vs. Youngstown State Game Preview: Vikings Hope To Stave Off Penguins To Remain Atop Horizon League

First place in the Horizon League is on the line as the Cleveland State Vikings (17-4, 7-2) travel to Youngstown State (11-8, 6-3) on Saturday night for a 7:05 p.m. EST tip off at Beeghly Physical Education Center.

Cleveland State currently holds the lead in the Horizon League, but Youngstown State is just a game behind, so a win on Saturday night would propel them to the top and in a tie with the VIkings. The Penguins have already beaten Cleveland State this season, 73-67 on December 31, so they would hold the tie-breaker.

Cleveland State has won five of six since that loss to the Penguins and are currently ranked No. 10 in the Mid-Major Top 25. Despite losing the most recent match up, the Vikings have won eight of the last 10 against their in-state rival.
