Browns vs. Colts 2012: A 'tough loss to take' for Cleveland

Jonathan Daniel

Whether it was a dropped pass, a missed extra point or something of the sort, the Cleveland Browns could not overcome their own miscues Sunday as they lost to the Indianapolis Colts, 17-13

The Cleveland Browns had many chances Sunday, but once again, they were defeated by their own mistakes as they fell to the Indianapolis Colts, 17-13.

Quarterback Brandon Weeden was 25-of-41 for 264 yards and two touchdowns, and the defense allowed only three points in the second half. The game was withing striking distance for the Browns all day long.

However, writes Chris Pokorny of SB Nation's Cleveland Browns blog, Dawgs by Nature, the Browns could not overcome the miscues to grab a game that was very much for the taking.

It was one of those games where despite it being a close contest, it was a very frustrating afternoon for Browns fans... This is a tough loss to take. Although the Colts put together some really long drives, if the Browns don't have one of those two huge miscues (the botched hold, and the dropped touchdown), the outcome could have ended up in Cleveland's favor.

The dropped touchdown Pokorny references was a deep pass to wide receiver Josh Gordon late in the fourth quarter. A perfect pass from Weeden hit Gordon in the chest, but Gordon could not hang on and the ball fell harmlessly to the ground. It was Cleveland's last legitimate scoring chance.

The loss drops the Browns to 1-6 on the season, a mark that puts them in last place in the AFC North. Their next contest comes next week at home against the San Diego Chargers.
