Cleveland St. Vikings throttled by Akron Zips

The Vikings trailed by 17 at the break and never recovered.

The Cleveland St. Vikings fell in an early hole to the Akron Zips and dropped to 1-5 on the road with the 87-57 loss to the Zips who stayed perfect at home.

Five Zips finished the day in double figures with Nick Harney coming off the bench to score 19 points, good enough to lead all scorers. Harney was perfect from beyond the arc and missed just one shot all day. Zeke Marshall chipped in 18 points, Demetrius Treadwell finished with 15 points and Alex Abreu and Jake Kretzer both ended the day with 11 points.

Bryn Forbes ended the afternoon with 13 points off the bench but the Vikings were led in scoring by Junior Lomomba who finished the day with 16 points.

The Vikings shot just 34.6 percent from the field while the Zips knocked down 53.2 percent of their attempts. The Vikings face Rio Grande on Friday while the Zips face Texas Southern on Friday.
