The Cleveland Indians are reportedly interested in free agent outfielder Scott Hairston.
The Cleveland Indians are one of five teams interested in free-agent outfielder Scott Hairston, according to a report from Matt Loede of 92.3 The Fan.
In addition to the Indians, the Detroit Tigers, San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals and New York Yankees are reportedly interested in the 32-year-old outfielder. Hairston, who spent the previous two seasons with the New York Mets, said a return to the Mets is still a possibility.
The Indians have been thought to be searching for outfield depth this offseason. The need could become even greater if Cleveland, as rumored, trades outfielder Shin-Soo Choo before next season. Hairston played all three outfield positions last season while hitting .263 with 20 home runs and 57 RBIs. He has played for four different teams during his nine-year career.
In addition to Hairston, the Indians have also been rumored to have interest in free agents Jason Bay and Shane Victorino.
