Blue Jackets Vs. Penguins Final Score: Columbus Falls 4-2 In Pittsburgh

The Columbus Blue Jackets got their goalie back, but they could not get back in the win column, as they fell 4-2 to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday at the CONSOL Energy Center.

Curtis Sanford returned for Columbus after being out since Feb. 9 with a back injury, but the Penguins pelted him with shots all day, as Evgeni Malkin, Pascal Dupuis, Kris Letang, and Joe Vitale broke through for goals against Stanford. Pittsburgh racked up 38 shots on goal overall, compared to 20 for Columbus.

Rick Nash gave the Blue Jackets a 1-0 in the first period with a shorthanded goal, but Malkin evened the score with a power play goal with just 48 seconds remaining in the first period, and the Penguins started the third period with three straight goals.

Columbus (18-37-7) will now return home to face the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday in a game scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. Eastern.
