The Horizon League Tournament is over for the Youngstown State Penguins. They lost 93-76 to the Detroit Titans in the second round of the tournament on Friday.
The Penguins could not overcome a lopsided first half, despite 25 points in the game from Damian Eargle. He also had seven rebounds to lead Youngstown State. Detroit jumped out to a 50-32 lead after the first half that they were never able to recover from as the game continued.
Ray McCallum led the Titans with 22 points. He also had seven assists and four rebounds in the game. McCallum was one of five Detroit players to score in double figures. Eli Holman had 10 rebounds on the night.
Detroit outpaced their opponents, shooting 60 percent from the field versus 54.7 percent for the Penguins. Detroit also sunk 76 percent of their free throws in the effort.
Butler beat Milwaukee in the other Horizon tournament game. They will advance to play top-seeded Valparaiso. Detroit will face Cleveland State in the other semifinal game.

The Horizon League Tournament continues Friday night at Valparaiso with second round matchups between No.3 Detroit and No. 6 Youngstown State and No. 4 Milwaukee and No. 5 Butler.
Valparaiso will host the second and semifinal rounds because it won the regular season conference championship with a 14-4 record. The Crusaders have earned a double-by to the semifinal round along with the No. 2-seeded Cleveland State Vikings.
Cleveland State will face the winner of Detroit and Youngstown State, while Valparaiso hosts the winner of Milwaukee and Butler. Last season, Butler defeated Milwaukee 59-44 in the championship game to receive the Horizon League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Butler's magical run ended in the 2011 NCAA Tournament Championship Game, where the Bulldogs fell to the UConn Huskies, 53-41.
This season, the Horizon League appears to be a one-bid league, so the tournament should be fiercely contested.

Day one of the Horizon League tournament kicks off on Tuesday, and eight teams will be in action fighting for the right to move one step closer to an automatic NCAA tournament bid.
Cleveland State and Valparaiso are the only Horizon League teams not in action Tuesday evening, as they each earned a double bye into the tournament's semifinals by virtue of finishing as the top two teams in the league during the regular season.
Here's a look at the match-ups scheduled for Tuesday:
First Round - Tuesday, Feb. 28 (at campus sites, all times Eastern)
Game 1: No. 10 Loyola (IL) at No. 3 Detroit, 7 p.m.
Game 2: No. 7 Green Bay at No. 6 Youngstown State, 7:05 p.m.
Game 3: No. 9 UIC at No. 4 Milwaukee, 8 p.m.
Game 4: No. 8 Wright State at No. 5 Butler, 7 p.m.
The winners of Game 1 and Game 2 will square off on Wednesday at Valparaiso 6 p.m. (the host site for the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals of the tournament), and that game will be followed by the winners of Game 3 and Game 4 in head-to-head action (tip at 8:30 p.m.)
