Looking to avoid going 0-3 against St. Louis and hurt their chances for an at-large NCAA tournament bid, the Xavier Musketeers currently lead the rival Billikens by a 29-23 halftime score in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
The Musketeers were behind on the scoreboard for much of the opening 20 minutes, and didn't end up wrestling a lead away until only 2:55 remained on the clock. Xavier guard Mark Lyons has been the one to set the pace statistically, chipping in six points, four rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Backcourt mate Tu Holloway has been unable to find his shot, however, and is just 1-for-5 from the floor with a pair of turnovers.
St. Louis shot just 29.2% (7-for-24) from the field as a team in the first half, and missed ten of its 13 attempts from the perimeter.
The winner of this game will go on to face St. Bonaventure for the A-10 championship tomorrow at 1:00 pm EST.
