Cleveland Cavaliers Roster News: Cavs Will Not Re-sign Manny Harris

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Manny Harris informed the media that he would not be re-signed by the club on Sunday evening after the Cavs home win over the Houston Rockets. Harris was with the team on a second 10-day contract that ran out on Sunday. The club would have had to offer Harris a guaranteed contract for the remainder of the season or let him go - and the front office chose the latter option.

But, as Fear The Sword's Conrad Kaczmarek writes, Harris may be back with the team soon:

I have a sneaking suspicion that the Cavs will offer him a contract after the trade deadline passes. It seems likely that they simply wanted to keep some roster flexibility by leaving an open spot. This would be valuable if they are involved in any 1 for 2 player trades. Don't be shocked if Manny is backed after the March 15th deadline.

Harris announced the news to the media after Sunday's win, simply stating, "It's over." The former Michigan standout had some success for Coach Byron Scott last season, but Scott played Harris in only one game during his two ten-day contracts with the club this year.
