Atlantic 10 Tournament 2012: Dayton Takes On George Washington In First Round

Dayton tips off the Atlantic 10 Tournament on Tuesday against George Washington.

The Flyers are coming off a 75-59 win over George Washington last Saturday. That victory moved Dayton into a four-way tie for fifth place and dropped the Colonials into a tie for 11th, which means they’ll face off yet against in the first round of the conference tourney.

During the regular season Dayton was 19-11 overall and 11-5 in the A-10. The Flyers dropped four straight in January and February, but have since rebounded with wins in five of their last seven. G.W., meanwhile, has dropped nine of 11 and is just 5-11 in conference and 10-20 overall. Only Rhode Island (5-11) and Fordham (3-13) had worse conference records.

Dayton’s leading scorer is Chris Johnson, who averages 13.0 per game. Johnson also leads the team in rebounding at 6.4.

George Washington is led by Tony Taylor, who is good for 13.3 per game.

TV: The game will not be nationally televised, but will be available on the A10 website
