Scott Fujita Meeting With Roger Goodell, Discussing Saints' Bounty Scandal

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has yet to deliver punishments for players involved in the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal. One player who could have a fine or suspension heading his way is Browns linebacker Scott Fujita, who was a vocal leader of the Saints defense under Gregg Williams. Fujita is also a member of the NFLPA's Executive Committee, and NFL Network's Albert Breer reported Monday morning that Fujita was meeting with Goodell at the NFL's headquarters.

Other members of the executive committee are in attendance, along with Fujita and Brees. Fujita told Sports Illustrated's Peter King that he paid money into a pool which rewarded key defensive plays, but was not a part of any bounty program which paid players for injuring the opponent. His former teammate in the linebacking corps, Jonathan Vilma, is expecting a 2-8 game suspension, according to reports. The union released a statement as they entered the meetings with Goodell, discussing the explosive Gregg Williams locker room audio released two weeks ago:

"The NFLPA was aware of the existence of the Gregg Williams audio prior to its release. We learned of the tape as part of our effort to obtain any and all information related to an alleged pay-to-injure scheme. We had no control of the content and did not make a determination on the method of its release. To date, the NFL has not provided the NFLPA with detailed evidence of the existence of such a program."

While Fujita meets with the commissioner on Monday, the Browns start their voluntary workout program in Berea. No timetable has been set for potential player suspensions.
