Daniel Gibson To Have Surgery On Monday, Out For Season

It's been expected for a few days, since it was announced that Daniel Gibson had suffered a tendon tear in his left ankle and since the team went out and signed Lester Hudson to a 10-day contract, but now it's official: Gibson will have surgery and be done for the season. Daryl Ruiter was the first to Tweet the news, and the Cavaliers have some stuff to note, as well.

Gibson is going to have surgery Monday afternoon to repair the torn tendon at the Southern Orthopedic Institute in Van Nuys, California. It also states that there is no time table for his return to play and doesn't officially eliminate him from playing this season, but that's just a formality to be announced after the post-operative review, most likely.

The injury was initially thought to just be an ankle sprain, with Gibson set to miss limited time. He was injured in a game against the New Jersey Nets on March 19. He averaged just 7.5 points per game and 2.9 rebounds per game this season, with the former being down from his career average of 8.2 and the latter being up from his career average of 2.1.
