Kyrie Irving Injury: Cavs Rookie May Miss More Time

Stay connected for news and updates

The Cleveland Cavaliers received more bad news about rookie guard Kyrie Irving on Wednesday. According to a report from Fox 8 in Cleveland, Irving is likely to miss "significant" time after a follow-up exam on his shoulder at the Cleveland Clinic.

Irving suffered a sprained right shoulder on Friday, March 30, in a loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. He had been listed as day-to-day on the team's injury report. The report from Fox 8 cites sources who claim that Irving may be dealing with a bone bruise. Additional time to rest and heal could allow him to return, but no date has been set for when that might happen.

Irving has been a bright spot for the Cavs this season. He won Rookie of the Month honors for the Eastern Conference for three consecutive months starting in January. Many believe that he is a lock for the NBA Rookie of the Year.
