Indians Vs. White Sox: Cleveland Loses 9-3 And Watches Asdrubal Cabrera, Carlos Santana Leave With Injuries

The Cleveland Indians have not been losing much lately, winning eight of their last 10 heading into Friday night's series opener against the Chicago White Sox. Momentum swung the other way for the Tribe, as they lost by a final score of 9-3 while watching two of their stars leave early with injuries.

Jeanmar Gomez got off to a rough start, giving up home runs to Adam Dunn and AJ Pierzynski in the first two innings that helped put Cleveland in a three-run hole. He gave up another three in the sixth before his evening ended. Gomez was tagged with the loss, his third of the season.

Cleveland hitters mustered just four hits on Chicago starter Jose Quintana. It was the second start of the season for Quintana, and his second against Cleveland. In his last outing against the Indians, the left-hander allowed just one hit and no runs through five and two-thirds innings.

The toughest break of the night for the Indians came late in the game. Asdrubal Cabrera left with a sore hamstring and Carlos Santana left after being hit in the mask on a foul ball from Alex Rios.

The two teams are back in action Saturday at 4:10 p.m.
