2012 Kentucky Derby: No Consensus Favorite Among Expert Predictions

Stay connected for news and updates

The race for the triple crown begins on Saturday with the Kentucky Derby, and this year might be harder to pick than any other. Few analysts can agree on a consensus favorite to win at Churchill Downs.

At KentuckyDerby.com, six experts were asked for their predicted order of finish. Of those six, two chose Union Rags to win, two chose I'll Have Another, one chose Gemologist and one chose Hansen. In the site's power ranking system, Union Rags was picked to win.

Union Rags has the second best odds as of right now. It currently is sitting at 9:2, but that can fluctuate over the next few days.

Interestingly enough, the horse with the best odds at 4:1, Bodemeister, was chosen no higher than fifth by any of the experts.
