Cavaliers Reportedly Offered Their Top Four Picks For The Right To Draft Anthony Davis

It's no secret that Anthony Davis is going to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA draft. It was no secret even when we didn't know which team was going to pick there, in much the same way that Andrew Luck was always going first overall in the 2012 NFL Draft, regardless if it was the Indianapolis Colts or somebody else. Davis is just that good and has that much potential.

As such, many believe that the New Orleans Hornets are going to take him in something of a perfect storm for them. While they're adamant that they're keeping their options open and fielding potential trade requests, just about everyone believes there is no chance of that pick being moved.

Still, that didn't stop the Cleveland Cavaliers from reportedly trying to make a deal for the pick, according to Chad Ford of ESPN.com with a H/T to IAmAGM.com

Is Anthony Davis a lock for the No. 1 pick? Yes, and it's not even close. Forget about the fact that the Hornets are saying publicly that they are still considering their options. He's the guy.

You can also forget about them trading the No. 1 pick. Sources say the Cavs offered them No. 4, No. 24, No. 33 and No. 34 for No. 1. And sources said the Cavs got a firm and quick "No!"

It's interesting to note that the Cavaliers made an offer, though it's totally unsurprising that they received a big, fat "no." That being said, it's a little surprising that they even made an offer, given the prevailing theory that the pick won't actually be traded under any circumstances. It will be interesting to see if the Cavaliers try to come back with even more future picks or something along those lines to take another run at it.
