2012 College World Series: Kent State Beats Oregon 3-2, Advances To Omaha

Stay connected for news and updates

The Kent State Golden Flashes will advance to the College World Series after beating the Oregon Ducks 3-2 Monday night. Shortstop Jim Rider was the hero for the Golden Flashes. He scored Derek Toadvine on a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to win Kent State the game and give them a trip to Omaha.

After Kent State took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, no runs were scored until the top of the eighth. That's when Ryon Healy's double scored two runs for the Ducks.

The Game 3 win is the Golden Flashes' 22nd in 23 tries, after losing Game 2 on Sunday.

With the win, Kent State is the first MAC team since 1976 to advance to the College World Series.
