On Saturday morning, USGA executive director Mike Davis gave the order to have the Olympic Club treated with water in an attempt to slow down the difficult course. While the water will in no way help decrease the scores, it will go a long way in terms of helping out the players, at least for a short while.
Through the first two rounds of the United States' national championship, the course at Olympic has been compared to a driveway in the way in which shots have rocketed off of initial bounces. This has made it difficult for players to attempt their approach shots. With temperatures expected in the high 80s on Saturday, odds are the water will only make a difference early in the morning prior to speeding up in the afternoon once again.
