Ohio State linebacker Storm Klein, who had been dismissed from the team following a domestic violence arrest in July, has been reinstated to the team, according to Tim May of the Columbus Dispatch:
"As I had indicated previously, if there are any changes in the charges against Storm, I would re-evaluate his status," Meyer said in a statement released by the school. "The charges that would have violated our core values have been totally dismissed."
Klein originally had been accused of domestic violence – a breach of one of those core values – and assault for an incident at his apartment that occurred July 6 involving the mother of his child. Meyer immediately dismissed him from the team. But the alleged victim recanted her story in the past couple of weeks, and Klein on Wednesday pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct and was put on 18 months probation.
"I have spoken extensively to members of both families and that has prompted me to re-assess his situation and allow him back," Meyer said.
Klein's lawyer told the Dispatch that Klein "did not do what he was originally accused of doing." May noted that Klein will still face at least a two game suspension.
Luke Zimmerman of Land-Grant Holy Land had this reaction to the reinstatement:
Urban Meyer had been pretty clear from the very beginning that as long as the domestic violence charges didn't stick, Klein would have a strong chance for having his scholarship reinstated. Per his word, after 24 hours in which it wasn't entirely clear if Ohio State would want Klein back (who'd lost his job due to injury and mild ineffectiveness in the 2011 season), Klein is now back on an Ohio State team that was relatively shallow experience wise at the linebacker position.

Ohio State running back Bri'onte Dunn was cleared of all charges last Friday stemming from his July 28 citation for alleged disorderly conduct as well as possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Dunn had his day in court in Alliance, Ohio, and magistrate Jean Madden ruled that there was not enough evidence to support those charges.
Madden did find Dunn guilty of two minor traffic violations: insufficient license plate illumination and failure to wear a seatbelt. That resulted in a fine for Dunn that amounts to $60 plus court costs. Dunn took the stand on Friday, refuting the testimony of his passenger, McKensey Cross, who said that the two had been smoking marijuana in his car. Dunn's mother, Donna Hatcher, testified that the marijuana was in her car before she loaned it to Dunn, though she was unaware of how it got there.
Dunn, a true freshman, was one of the top ranked players in Ohio in the 2012 recruiting class.

Ex-Ohio State Buckeyes defensive lineman Kenny Hayes was granted his release from the program early in August, but now we know where he will be playing next. Hayes will be headed north to the Michigan State Spartans, who will gladly accept a player that was one of the top defensive recruits in the 2011 class.
According to Rivals, Hayes was the No. 68 overall player in the 2011 class and the No. 7 defensive end. But he was never able to find his footing in Columbus, and had recently been excused from spring practice with "recurring headaches."
Hayes will have to sit out the 2012 season due to transfer rules, but will be eligible to play in 2013.

On Thursday, Ohio State running back Bri'onte Dunn pleaded innocent to a disorderly conduct charge that stemmed from his weekend arrest.
Dunn was pulled over early Sunday morning in a routine traffic stop, which ultimately ended with police officers finding a small amount of marijuana and a pipe in the car. Dunn denied that that drugs or the paraphernalia were his possessions; it was later discovered that they belonged to his mother after she arrived at the scene and claimed ownership.
Dunn's arraignment is tentatively scheduled for Aug. 8. The disorderly conduct charge is a minor misdemeanor offense and is due to the reporting officers claiming that Dunn almost hit a patrol car.
Ohio State is scheduled to open practice on Friday and Dunn is expected to compete for playing time.

According to a report by CantonRep.com on Tuesday morning, Ohio State freshman running back Bri'onte Dunn is not expected to face drug charges stemming from his arrest on July 30.
After investigating a 30-minute police cruiser video, taking witness statements as well as statements from police officers, Alliance City Law Director Andrew Zumbar has authorized the filing of disorderly conduct and a seat belt violation against Dunn.
Via CantonRep.com:
"His statement is consistent that he denies possession of the objects," Zumbar said. "He was polite during the entire stop. Otherwise his demeanor was unremarkable in terms of his conduct."
According to SB Nation's Ohio State site, Land-Grant Holy Land, Dunn's mother arrived at the scene and stated that the small amount of Marijuana and wood pipe where her possessions and not her son's. Apparently, that statement and Dunn's consistent denial of ownership was enough to sway the authorities to drop the drug charges.

Though the stories that Ohio State running back Bri'onte Dunn had been arrested on Sunday were exaggerated, he still won't be getting off scot free after being pulled over and cited by police.
According to reports he was pulled over on Sunday after running a light and almost striking a pedestrian, and after being pulled over was discovered to have less than 200 grams of marijuana as well as a wooden pipe. Dunn has officially been charged with four different misdemeanors, as reported by the Canton Rep.
The four charges are possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, not wearing a seat belt and a tail-light violation.
Though the school has not commented on the situation as of yet, the incident could prove to be problematic for Dunn's future as an Ohio State Buckeye, as Urban Meyer has had a history of not tolerating troubled players:
Meyer has had a low tolerance for players who get into trouble off the field. OSU's new coach suspended offensive lineman Jack Mewhort and tight end Jake Stoneburner indefinitely after they were charged with obstructing official business. Linebacker Storm Klein was dismissed from the team after he was arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence and assault.

News broke back on Sunday that Ohio State Buckeyes running back Bri'onte Dunn had been reportedly arrested during a traffic stop. It seems that those reports were slightly exaggerated, as more details came out later into the night revealing that he had only been cited rather than arrested.
As reported by CantonRep.com, Dunn was cited during a traffic stop because he was wearing no seat-belt and was found to have drug paraphernalia with him. Neither of the two citations against him are likely to bring too many repercussions because they were both misdemeanors. According to the article, there has been no comment yet from the school itself:
Ohio State football spokesman Jerry Emig said the school has no comment because it was still in the information-gathering and fact-finding phase. Buckeye Head Coach Urban Meyer was unavailable to comment because he is on a retreat with his coaching staff.
Dunn is expected to provide some touches on the ball for the Buckeyes in his freshman year, unless he has any more problems during the off season.

A five-star tailback by Scout.com who figures to have a significant impact in the Buckeyes' backfield this season, true freshman Bri'onte Dunn was reportedly arrested over the weekend according to ESPN850 WKNR in Cleveland.
Land-Grant Holy Land dug up a rather interesting public record involving Dunn that cites an arrest for 'failure to control' from back in June, but it remains unclear what exactly resulted in his most recent arrest.
The 6-foot-1, 220 pound Canton, Ohio native is viewed as one of the best pure power backs in the 2012 class, and rushed for more than 5,000 yards during his illustrious high school career. Dunn has been lauded by both the Ohio State coaching staff and his former high school coach($) as being more than ready to contribute immediately, but it is unclear what type of impact this news will have on his freshman campaign.

Head coach Urban Meyer wasted little time dismissing linebacker Storm Klein from the Ohio State Buckeyes football team after Klein was arrested and charged with domestic violence and assault on Friday after an incident with his ex-girlfriend.
Meyer may be willing to re-evaluate Klein's status with the team if the charges change which is exactly what Klein's lawyer expects to happen.
On Monday, Klein's attorney, Larry James, worked to turn that thin ray of hope into a bright future for his client, telling a local television station, "I am pleased that the door remains open to return to the team and I believe it will work out in Storm's favor." To the local paper of record, the Columbus Dispatch, James was more emphatic: "I believe when this is said and done, this will be resolved in Storm's favor, with an exclamation mark."
If nothing is settled out of court to clear Klein's charge, his next court hearing is scheduled for July 26th.

Another offseason incident cost the Ohio St. Buckeyes a key player this weekend, as Storm Klein was dismissed from the team following a domestic violence arrest on Friday. Klein allegedly grabbed the victim and threw her against the front door of private apartment. Urban Meyer did not take long to act, throwing the linebacker and one-tie "Mr. Football" in Ohio off the team.
SB Nation's Land Grant Holy Land spoke about what Klein's dismissal from the team means for the program going forward:
Klein, who started 10 games for Ohio State in 2011, had faded in the depth chart behind talented sophomore Curtis Grant and also battled injuries most of the spring. Subsequently he wasn't expected to play a huge role with the Buckeyes. Ohio State will have talented incoming freshman Camren Williams in the fold shortly along with the likes of Stewart Smith, Luke Roberts, Connor Crowell, and Joshua Perry providing depth at the linebacker positions. Seeing a senior's career cut short can sometimes leave a team short handed, but it shouldn't have a significant impact on Ohio State's defensive formidability.
In addition to Klein, Jake Stoneburner and Jack Mewhort had a run-in with police this offseason and are currently suspended from the program. But last week, Urban Meyer did indicate that he speaks with the two likely starters every week.

Ohio State tight end Jake Stoneburner and offensive tackle Jack Mewhort were suspended indefinitely by Urban Meyer and the Ohio State football program on Sunday night. Both Buckeyes were arrested on Saturday on charges of "obstructing official business." The two were seen by Shawnee Hills police urinating in public, and they both briefly attempted to run away. They were booked for the aforementioned charges and the news surfaced in the press Saturday afternoon. Meyer did not wait long to act, suspending both players who he has cited as team leaders this spring. Via David Briggs of the Toledo Blade:
Mewhort, a junior offensive lineman and a St. John's Jesuit graduate, and Stoneburner, a senior tight end, learned Sunday they will be barred from the OSU football facilities until their case is settled, Columbus attorney Mark Collins said. Their arraignment is June 11 at Delaware Municipal Court, but Collins hopes the charges are resolved before then.
Land-Grant Holy Land's Luke Zimmermann discusses how the suspensions may shape out this fall:
DWI's in the past often resulted in one game suspensions under Jim Tressel and while this matter doesn't quite measure up in the sheer danger magnitude of a reckless action like driving while intoxicated, you'd have to think Meyer would like to make a statement about how his administration will handle run-ins with the law.
If I had to make a wager as to the specific duration of the ultimate suspensions handed down to the two, I'd guess a game though a quarter or half are certainly not out of the question.
