On Monday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers announced via the team's official website that reigning NBA Rookie of the Year, Kyrie Irving was going to undergo surgery on Wednesday at the Cleveland Clinic to repair a fractured bone in his right hand.

Irving sustained the injury on Saturday morning during a summer league practice in Las Vegas when he reportedly made contact with a padded wall and in the process sustained the self-inflicted injury. It has been reported that the guard will miss somewhere in the range of 6-8 weeks, but the Cavaliers would not officially committ to a time-table.

His status will be updated as appropriate and he is still projected to be ready for the start of training camp at the end of September.
