The Cleveland Indians have designated pitcher Derek Lowe for assignment.
The Cleveland Indians designated Derek Lowe for assignment late Wednesday night.
The move was first reported by MLB.com's Jordan Bastian in a very brief tweet:
Lowe designated for assignment. More on mlb.com soon.

The move is not shocking, as Lowe has been less than effective this season for Cleveland. The 39-year-old has lost his last four starts. He also has a 5.52 ERA on the year, with 45 walks to 41 strikeouts in 119 innings pitched.
This comes on the heels of the Indians changing their rotation around by moving Josh Tomlin to the bullpen. The recently called up Cory Kluber will make his first major league start on Thursday against the Kansas City Royals.
