The Indians look to avoid the three-game sweep against the Royals on Thursday when Corey Kluber makes his first big league start with Derek Lowe being designated for assignment.

Kluber went 11-7 with a 3.59 ERA in 21 starts striking out 128 over 125 1-3 innings for Triple-A Columbus this year. Last season, he compiled an 8.31 ERA in three relief appearances. Kluber will face Bruce Chen (7-9, 5.49 ERA) in the pitching duel.
