Stay connected for news and updates

The first round of 2012 FedEx Cup action at Barclays started on Thursday morning, and local golfer Colt Knost is doing well to keep pace with big names like Tigers Woods, Lee Westwood and others. Knost started on the back nine and posted a score of 1-under par over that span of play thanks to a birdie on hole No. 14. Woods has managed to shoot 2-under through 11 holes and Westwood joins Knost at 1-under, but after 15 holes. The early lead belongs to Padraig Harrington and American golfer Nick Watney, both of whom sit at 5-under through 14 holes.

The Golf Channel will carry coverage of the first round from 2 p.m. ET and broadcast until 6 p.m. ET, but that will be after Knost, Woods and McIlroy have finished their rounds.
