Dion Waiters First Purchase After Being Drafted By Cavs: Range Rover For Mom

Cavaliers rookie two-guard Dion Waiters made a public appearance in Syracuse this weekend, and The Post-Standard caught up with the former Orange sixth man. Waiters talked a lot about adjusting to life off the court, as a newly minted millionaire and incoming high-profile lottery pick.

Waiters appeared in a blue Nike shirt emblazoned with "The Wait Is Over" across the front (his surname will surely be the subject of much future punnery). He said the first purchase he made after being drafted was a new car, a shiny Range Rover to be be specific. But in a true moment of altruism, the purchase was made for his mother. Waiters also discussed relocating to the North Coast for his new professional life. A home purchase is next on the docket this weekend for Waiters:

Via Donna Ditota of The Syracuse Post-Standard:

I haven't gotten a house yet. That's what I'm going out there for (on Sunday). To look at houses and finally move into one. We've got somebody, a realtor, and she pretty much knows about all the houses around Cleveland.

While the focus of the interview was on off-the-court matters, he also discussed the adjustment he needs to make playing for Byron Scott. You can read the full interview here.
