Bridgestone Invitational 2012: Tiger Woods Improves, Phil Mickelson Struggles

As the leaders teed off at the 2012 Bridgestone Invitational, Tiger Woods wrapped up a day that saw him making improvements, but little progress.

Woods shot a 2-under 68 on the day, putting him at par for the tournament. He's currently in a tie for 30th, moving up 14 spots from the start of the day. An important part of his improved play was the birdie he hit on No. 16; he had bogeyed the long par-5 in his first two rounds of the tournament.

The biggest improvement on the day came from Branden Grace, who shot a 4-under 66 to jump 29 spots into a tie for 15th. Grace started out incredibly hot, hitting birdies on five of the first nine holes.

Phil Mickelson continued to struggle, shooting 3-over through 15 holes to move into a tie for 42nd. 2011 champion Adam Scott remained in the middle of the pack, shooting a 1-over 71 and moving to 2-over on the tournament. Jim Furyk remains in the lead at 11-under.
