Ohio State vs. Purdue Prediction: Buckeyes Will Get Revenge on Boilermakers

Ohio State is looking to avenge its overtime loss last year to Purdue, and the Boilermakers hope to not be just another stepping stone in Ohio State's pretty dominant overall season.

Ohio State's running game is overall probably the best in the Big Ten. With Braxton Miller at the quarterback position, the Buckeyes can run all over teams and Urban Meyer's offense only further amplifies that. His ability to run sets up big plays in the pass game for Devin Smith and the tight ends.

This is a really unfortunate season for the Buckeyes, when you consider. This is probably the best, most relaxed year they have had in quite some time, and there will be absolutely nothing to show for it at the end of the year, not even a mediocre bowl appearance. There is a great chance Ohio State will go into their late-season showdown with Michigan as an undefeated team, and in all honesty, that will be their bowl game.

Ohio State has a bit of a problem giving up big plays, but I think they will be able to hold Purdue in check and force some turnovers. The biggest issue here facing the Boilermakers is that they struggle with tackling, especially in the open field. That is going to be a huge advantage for Miller and the OSU running game.

I think the Buckeyes win this one big, and continue on their journey for a top five ranking. It's possible they could finish the season in the AP top two or three without even competing for a bowl. Their fate this season is reminiscent of USC last year, when the Trojans got extremely hot and were not able to compete in postseason play.

The future is bright for Ohio State, but unfortunately for them the cards are all falling into place in a year where they can't make it to a bowl game.

College Football Rankings: Ohio, OSU Land In Week 4 BlogPoll

The Ohio St. Buckeyes are 3-0 after a 35-28 win over Cal that many felt was too close for comfort. Despite the win, the Buckeyes dropped two spots to No. 15 in the latest SB Nation BlogPoll Top 25. Next up is a matchup against the UAB Blazers on Saturday in Columbus.

Ohio State is ranked one spot ahead of USC, which was ranked in the top three prior to its loss to Stanford (now ranked No. 8, with a solitary first place vote to its credit).

Also of note for the Buckeyes is the fact that they are the fifth-most disputed team, with the disparity between all of the blogs given a standard deviation rating of 4.82.

Coming in at No. 25: the Ohio Bobcats. They're 3-0, with wins over Penn St., New Mexico St. and Marshall. Mississippi St., Northwestern and Michigan St. are the teams immediately in front of the Bobcats.

College Football Rankings: Ohio State Moves To No. 13 In SB Nation BlogPoll

Urban Meyer's Buckeyes moved to 2-0 on Saturday with a solid win over Central Florida, and were promptly rewarded with a one-spot jump in the latest SB Nation BlogPoll for their efforts.

At No. 13 overall, Ohio State currently checks in as the second-highest Big Ten team behind Michigan State (No. 8) in the rankings. The Buckeyes even managed to pick up one of the 94 first-place votes doled out in Week 3, and were among Alabama, LSU and USC as teams receiving at least one first-place nod by voters.

Not to be outdone by their in-state rivals, the Ohio Bobcats also made their first appearance in the BlogPoll at No. 25 this week. The Bobcats followed up a thorough domination of Penn State in Week 1 with a 51-24 thrashing of New Mexico State on Saturday, and narrowly beat out the BYU Cougars and Oregon State Beavers for the poll's final spot.
