Carlos Hyde Injury: Ohio State Running Back Out For UAB Game

The Ohio State Buckeyes will be without running back Carlos Hyde again on Saturday, but he's improving and the team faces a relatively easy matchup against the UAB Blazers this week.

The Ohio St. Buckeyes are close to having their full running back depth healthy, but starter Carlos Hyde will still miss the next game, according to head coach Urban Meyer. Hyde won the starting job in training camp after spending last season as the backup to Dan Herron, but has missed time with an MCL sprain.

Hyde injured his MCL in the first half in a win over Central Florida two weeks ago, and missed this past week's game against Cal. Jordan Hall started in Hyde's place and carried the rock 17 times for 87 yards, good for a 5.1 average. Quarterback Braxton Miller is another good reason why Ohio St. is doing just fine on the ground without Hyde. As a dual-threat quarterback, he rushed for 75 yards on 12 carries against Cal.

It's possible that Hyde would be ready to play on Saturday, but that the Buckeyes are keeping him out as they face a relatively easy matchup next against the UAB Blazers. They're 0-2 on the season and No. 12 Ohio St. is expected to roll through them in just about every scenario.
