The 2012 FedEx Cup was decided on Sunday afternoon, as Brandt Snedeker was able to clinch top honors and a hefty $10 million award for being the best golfer on the PGA Tour this year. Cleveland's own Jason Dufner never seemed in contention for the top spot, but he finished pretty high in the standings.
Dufner unfortunately dropped out of the top 10 this past weekend, but the Ohio native still finished in a very respectable 14th place. Dufner racked up 853 total points over the course of 22 events, placing in the top 10 eight times and winning two tournaments this season.
Dufner finished 3,247 points behind Snedeker, but he showed this year that he could be well on his way to becoming a household name.

Building off of a round of 64 on Sunday, Brandt Snedeker was able to hold off the field to capture the 2012 TOUR Championship and the 2012 FedEx Cup.
After being tied with Ryan Moore through eight holes, Snedeker then pushed through the pack to go ahead, where he would never look back. A chip-in for birdie on hole 17 clinched the title.
Both Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy had a chance to win the FedEx Cup with a win tonday, but neither were able to do so. Woods finished tied for eighth at two-under while McIlroy finished in 10th at one-under.
This was the fourth-career PGA Tour victory and his first time capturing the FedEx Cup.

Brandt Snedeker shot a fantastic 6-under par for the third round of the Tour Championship, which vaulted him all the way to the top of the leaderboard.
Snedeker finished the third round at 8-under par for the tournament, which has him tied with Justin Rose for the lead entering the final round. Rose shot a 2-under par on Saturday.
Ryan Moore also moved up the leaderboard on Saturday, with his 5-under round leaving him at 6-under with one round to go. That score has Moore alone in third place after three rounds of play. Second-round leader Jim Furyk, Rory McIlroy and Bubba Watson are all tied for fourth place, sitting a single stroke behind Moore entering the final round of play.
Tiger Woods shot 3-under for the third round, bouncing back from a Friday that saw him shoot a 73. Woods is tied with a trio of other golfers at 4-under entering Sunday's play. Phil Mickelson went the other way on Saturday, as his 2-over par round saw him drop into a tie for 20th place.
Sunday's final round will be an interesting one, as several golfers could potentially come out on top of the FedEx Cup standings. The projected standings can be found here.

After the second round at East Lake, Jim Furyk is now the tournament leader thanks to a furious run in which he hit birdies on seven of 10 holes to take over the lead. His 64 score is the best by any player so far in the tournament, two strokes ahead of the day's second-best, Bubba Watson's 66.
Seven strokes and 15 spots behind Furyk on the leaderboard, Cleveland-native Jason Dufner continued to play even with his second 70 score of the tournament. He is now tied with five other golfers for the No. 16 spot in the tournament standings, one stroke behind Tiger Woods.
Woods, the tournament leader after Day 1, struggled on Friday with five bogeys and a double bogey on the eighth hole. While he managed four birdies to keep his day's score at 3-over, it was enough to send him out of the top 10.

Tiger Woods and Justin Rose are atop the leaderboard after Round 1 of the 2012 Tour Championship at East Lake Country Club in Atlanta, Ga. Rory McIlroy, who has dominated the FedEx Cup Playoffs thus far, is tied for 12th at 1-under.
Playing well early in tournaments is nothing new for Woods, who overcame two bogeys by racking up six birdies in a balanced round of golf. Meanwhile, Rose finished strong, as he birdied three out of the last five holes to make his way to the top of the leaderboard. Both golfers finished the round at 4-under.
McIlroy struggled out of the gate, as he bogeyed the opening hole. He made up for it with a birdie two holes later, but more-or-less stayed under the radar from that point forward, barely being able to stay below par.
Cleveland native Jason Dufner struggled through the first six holes, as he posted three bogeys during that stretch. However, he recovered to birdie on the eighth, ninth and 12th pins, moving him back to even-par. Dufner is tied for 19th place heading into Day 2.
