Jim Cowsert-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Cleveland native Jason Dufner will make his first Ryder Cup appearance, as Team USA looks to defeat Team Europe in the Ryder Cup.

The 2012 Ryder Cup gets underway on Friday, as Team USA looks to defeat Team Europe and reclaim the Ryder Cup.

Cleveland native Jason Dufner will make his first career Ryder Cup appearance for Team USA, and expressed his excitement for making the team.

Dufner is on a team filled with golf superstars, including captain Davis Love III. Keegan Bradley, Jim Furyk, Dustin Johnson, Zach Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Phil Mickelson, Brandt Snedeker, Webb Simpson, Steve Stricker, Bubba Watson and Tiger Woods are all on the star-studded roster for Team USA.

Snedeker is coming off of two titles of his own -- winning the TOUR Championship in Atlanta last weekend, and consequently capturing the 2012 FedEx Cup title as well.

Love III has some help with the captaincy as well, with Fred Couples, Mike Hulbert, Jeff Sluman and Scott Verplank serving as assistant captains.

Golfers will tee off on Friday morning at 8 a.m. ET.
