Clemson Vs. Florida State 2012 Reaction: Noles Outlast Tigers With Second Half Barrage

No. 4 Florida State took care of business in Saturday night's 49-37 win over tenth-ranked Clemson, and SBNation's FSU blog of record, Tomahawk Nation, was pleased with the effort.

After trailing 21-14 at the half and 28-14 several minutes into the third quarter, a 35-3 FSU run erased that deficit and gave the Noles an insurmountable lead.

Tomahawk Nation's Bud Elliot describes Saturday's win in a paragraph:

Florida State had to overcome a lot Saturday night -- a near-perfect first half by Clemson's offense which featured a bevy of trick plays and no penalties; a key turnover; several costly penalties and two missed field goals. But a ferocious comeback erased all that and then some as the Seminoles emerged with an entertaining 49-37 victory on the big stage of ABC Saturday night football.

The Noles racked up 667 yards of offense, including 380 on the arm of EJ Manuel, and Chris Thompson turned in another 100-plus yard effort.

Marques Colston Active, Will Start For Saints

Saints receiver Marques Colston was questionable for Sunday's game against Kansas City after suffering a foot injury, but he will see the field as New Orleans looks to avoid an 0-3 start:

Colston caught four passes for 71 yards in the Saints' opening loss to Washington and three more passes for 49 yards in last Sunday's loss at Carolina. The 6-4, 225-pound Hofstra product does not have a touchdown reception yet this season.

New Orleans will be facing a Chiefs pass defense that has struggled in losses to Atlanta and Buffalo this season. The Falcons' Matt Ryan threw for 299 yards and three touchdowns on just over 74 percent passing, while the Bills' Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 178 yards and two scores on just 10 completions.

Braves Vs. Marlins Time, TV, Radio Info And More

Paul Maholm (12-10, 3.90 ERA) looks to reverse his recent struggles as the Braves go for their fifth straight win Tuesday. In Maholm's last start at Milwaukee Wednesday, the lefty lasted just 4 1/3 innings and allowed six runs on nine hits--two starts after he made it through just two innings and allowed seven runs to Philadelphia.

Maholm's fastball command lacked in his recent outings, and home runs again were a problem for the Braves' trade deadline acquisition.

He'll face off against Nathan Eovaldi (4-12, 4.71 ERA), who came to Miami from Los Angeles in the Hanley Ramirez trade and has been solid in his starts at Marlins Park. His command can be hit-or-miss, so he'll have to be sharp against a Braves lineup that usually shows nice patience at the plate.

Atlanta won Monday night's series opener, 7-5, and pulled to within five games of idle Washington in the NL East hunt.

Chris Owens Injury: Falcons CB Out Remainder Of Game With Head Injury

Falcons cornerback Chris Owens left Monday night's contest in the second quarter with an apparent head injury. Atlanta will be without him for the remainder of the game:

Atlanta lost Pro Bowl CB Brent Grimes for the season during their Week 1 win in Kansas City and starting CB Asante Samuel left Monday's game briefly with a shoulder injury, though he returned one series later.

The Falcons now are down to just four cornerbacks -- Samuel, Dunta Robinson, Dominique Franks and Robert McClain, who intercepted Manning in the first half -- for the remainder of this Monday Night Football game. Atlanta safeties William Moore and Thomas DeCoud both had first quarter interceptions of Manning, and they may see more coverage duties in the second half to help out a depleted cornerback corps.

Rays Vs. Red Sox Final Score: Tampa Drops Further In Wild Card Chase With 5-2 Loss

Jacoby Ellsbury broke up Alex Cobb's no-hitter with a two-run home run to right with two outs in the sixth, pushing Boston in front for good and sending Tampa to a 5-2 loss, its sixth in seven games.

Tampa took a 1-0 lead in the fifth when Ryan Roberts sent a sacrifice bunt to first baseman James Loney. Luke Scott dashed home from third and slid in safely when Red Sox catcher Ryan Lavarnway couldn't corral Loney's throw. Ellsbury answered with his two-run shot to right-center.

Rays manager Joe Maddon sent Cobb back out for the seventh inning, but the young righty allowed the first two batters to reach (single, walk) before being pulled for reliever Burke Badenhop. Lavarnway, the only batter Badenhop faced, reached on a fielding error by Rays shortstop Ben Zobrist. JP Howell entered and promptly allowed a two-run single to pinch hitter Mauro Gomez, which provided all the cushion Boston would need.

The Rays added a run in the ninth on an RBI groundout from Zobrist, but Red Sox reliever Mark Melancon shut the door and dropped Tampa to 4½ games back of Baltimore in AL Wild Card hunt.

Cobb dropped to 9-9 with the loss for Tampa, while Boston's Aaron Cook improved to 4-10 with six innings of one-run baseball.

Braves Vs. Marlins Final Score: Atlanta Wins Fourth Straight

Dan Uggla's three-run homer, part of a four-run Atlanta first inning, provided Braves starter Tim Hudson with an early cushion that the Braves would not relinquish on their way to a 7-5 win Monday.

Martin Prado opened the scoring with a two-out single to center before Uggla yanked a towering blast to left for a 4-0 Atlanta lead. The Braves would push that lead to 6-0 in the fourth on a run-scoring single from left fielder Jeff Baker and a groundout by pitcher Tim Hudson. With Baker running from first, Hudson tapped a bouncer back to pitcher Wade LeBlanc, whose throw to second base was too late, preventing an inning-ending double play and allowing another run to score.

Hudson has struggled with allowing the big inning at times this season, and Monday's fourth inning was no different. Justin Ruggiano scored on a one-out single by Rob Brantly before Hudson induced a flyout from Gil Velazquez for the inning's second out. Miami was just getting started, though. Back-to-back triples from Bryan Petersen and Gorkys Hernandez plated three more to draw the Marlins within two. The Marlins tacked on another run against Atlanta reliever Cory Gearrin in the seventh on Carlos Lee's RBI single.

Martin Prado capped off his 4-for-4 night in the eighth with a one-out single to center to plate Jason Heyward, and Craig Kimbrel worked around an infield single from Jose Reyes in the ninth to earn his 37th save of the season.

Hudson improved to 15-6 after working five innings, allowing four runs on 10 hits. Wade LeBlanc allowed six runs on seven hits in just four innings of work and took the loss for Miami.
