Cavaliers injury report: Kyrie Irving has wisdom teeth pulled, Daniel Gibson returns to practice

Eric P. Mull-US PRESSWIRE

Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving had his wisdom teeth removed on Wednesday and guard Daniel Gibson returned to practice on Thursday.

Cleveland Cavaliers star point guard Kyrie Irving had four wisdom teeth removed in oral surgery on Wednesday. Irving will be re-evaluated daily as he recovers and will return to the court when ready. The recovery time for wisdom teeth is typically just a few days, so Irving should be ready for the Cavaliers' season opener on Oct. 30 against the Washington Wizards. Cleveland lost its final preseason game, 100-82, to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday.

On Thursday, Cavs guard Daniel Gibson returned to practice after reporting concussion symptoms on Monday. Forward Luke Harangody was a partial participant in Thursday's practice as he recovers from a right knee sprain.

Irving, the 2011 Rookie of the Year, averaged 18.5 points, 5.4 assists, 3,7 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game in 51 games last season. Gibson and Harangody both expect to come off the bench for Cleveland this year. Last season, Gibson averaged 7.5 points in 26.2 minutes of play. Harangody averaged 2.9 points and 2.5 rebounds in 11 minutes of play last year.
