Kyrie Irving day-to-day, potential game-time decision for Cavaliers opener

Kyrie Irving had his wisdom teeth removed on Wednesday.

Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving missed practice on Friday and is listed as day-to-day and a game time decision for the season opener after he had his wisdom teeth removed on Wednesday, according to Kenny Roda of ESPN Cleveland.

Cavaliers Head Coach Byron Scott said that they will have to wait and see to how Irving recovers before they determine his status for the team's regular season opener against the Washington Wizards on Oct. 30.

Cleveland finished the preseason with a 2-3 record including a 100-82 loss to the Indiana Pacers last Tuesday in its final preseason game. Irving played against the Pacers, scoring 20 points on 8-of-21 shooting from the field in just over 33 minutes.

Irving led the Cavaliers in scoring last season by contributing 18.5 points per game while also averaging 5.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals on 46.9 percent shooting from the field. Irving earned Rookie of the Year honors last season while playing in 51 of the team's 66 possible games.
