Benjamin Watson Fantasy Projection: Watson May Actually Benefit Vs. Strong Pass Defense

The second-favorite option in the Cleveland Browns' wide receiving corps, Benjamin Watson hasn't put up a double-digit fantasy game in over a month, the last time he scored a touchdown (Week 4). That could change on Sunday vs. the Jaguars.

The Jaguars are currently fifth in passing yards against (189 yards per game) and fourth overall in total passing yards allowed (1,704 passing yards). In standard fantasy formats, the Jaguars defense allows opposing quarterbacks almost three fantasy points less than the average defense. Last week, the Jaguars held the Colts' passing attack virtually scoreless.

However, the Jaguars will likely pay most attention to the Browns' number one target, rookie Greg Little, which could mean that Watson reaps the benefits. While Numberfire.com doesn't think that will happen, only projecting him to have about 35 receiving yards and less than half a touchdown, keep in mind that the Jags defense allows tight ends to score more than four points above average defenses.

Benching Watson is probably the safest play, depending on who your other tight ends are, but Watson could be the lone surprise for a depleted Cleveland offense going up against a very strong pass defense.
