SB Nation’s Brian Galliford has once again updated his 2011 NFL Mock Draft, and he now projects the Cleveland Browns will select Da’Quan Bowers, a defensive end from Clemson, with the sixth overall selection. He explains his choice:
Either receiver, A.J. Green or Julio Jones, would be a smart pick here as the Browns build around Colt McCoy. That said, either of the two pass rushers – Bowers or Robert Quinn – would be equally difficult to pass on as the Browns move to the 4-3.
The shift to a 4-3 defense could indeed prompt the Browns to shore up their line with Bowers; ESPN Insider Todd McShay had the same thought last week.
Dawgs by Nature, SB Nation’s Browns blog, also had Cleveland taking a defensive end in its ongoing mock draft exercise, but with Bowers off the board, it settled for Cameron Jordan of California.
