Browns' head coach Pat Shurmur was quick to give praise to the players who got the job done on the field after his first win in the NFL Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis.
This story from ClevelandBrowns.com gives the full story of this momentous occasion.
"I’m proud of our team. I think they played well," Shurmur said in his postgame press conference. "Victories, I think, start after the last game. I think they came in and cleaned up their corrections from last week -- and we had a boatload -- and made an effort to put that game behind them and move forward to put everything in place to win this one. I’m proud of their efforts for that."
The players also shared in the relief of the victory for Coach Shurmur:
"He was very positive, very optimistic, but you could still tell he wants to win," running back Peyton Hillis said. "It was great to give him that first victory and just seemed like a lot of stress was lifted off his shoulders and it’s good to give back to your head coach like that."
"What I’m most proud of is we’ve got a good group of guys that play hard," Shurmur said. "They buy into what I’m telling them and what we’re coaching them to do. When you win, it’s just a reward for doing all those things. Don’t underestimate that team. That’s a team that’s won 12 games the last two years and many, many before that. They’re a very talented team, an organization that is to be admired and for us to get our first victory this year against them, that’s a big deal."
Now we will see if the Browns can get that second win next week against the Miami Dolphins.
