The Cleveland Browns have been the favorites to get Baylor QB Robert Griffin III for a good, long while now. The highly touted prospect has most recently been mocked second overall to the Browns, with Cleveland trading their first rounders to the St. Louis Rams in order to get the selection.
On Wednesday, CSN Washington released a rumor that 'NFL execs' were buzzing over a different plan, the Washington Redskins trying to trade up to get RGIII instead.
One of the reasons LaCanfora gave was that, "execs I talk to expect Washington to make a move for St. Louis' No. 2 overall slot in the draft, and select whichever quarterback doesn't go first overall (at this point, it looks like Griffin)."
That would certainly fit the Dan Snyder philosophy of making as big a show as possible about making a move, but it would also beg the question of who else could go to the Browns. With almost nobody mocking the Browns with anyone but Griffin, it would be an interesting twist. Alabama RB Trent Richardson would likely become the favorite.
