The dust has hardly even settled from this year's exciting Super Bowl matchup, so it's hard to believe that there are 2013 Super Bowl odds already out and going from Las Vegas.
Unsurprisingly, the New England Patriots lead the pack after making the Super Bowl in 2012 and coming quite close to winning it as well, with 5-1 odds to take home the trophy. Right behind them are the Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles with 11-2 and 6-1 odds respectively. The current champion New York Giants slot in fifth overall at 8-1, understandable considering their 9-7 record was the weakest record ever by a Super Bowl team.
If you're someone who likes to bet on a long shot, Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos are the lowest 2012 playoff team in the odds at 50-1. The Detroit Lions at 18-1 are probably another smart money bet for a team that could put it together and put together a run like the Giants did this season. The team with the lowest chance of making the Super Bowl according to the odds are the Jacksonville Jaguars, at a lowly 150-1.
The Cleveland Browns are predictably fourth from the bottom in the rankings with a 75-1 shot to win the trophy in 2013.

The Super Bowl always trumps the ratings for American television on the big night, and most other networks usually don't even bother trying to put on anything interesting to draw viewers away from the big game. It was no different for this season's Super Bowl between the New York Giants and New England Patriots, though there were no viewership records even though the game was between two huge market teams.
It's being reported that the Super Bowl Sunday night got a very impressive 47.8 rating, which is down a single decimal point from last season's Green Bay - Pittsburgh thriller. Interestingly, the ratings went up all the way as far as 48.3 during the halftime show which featured Madonna, LMFAO and Cee Lo Green among others.
Even if those numbers aren't setting any viewership records you would be hard pressed to find any other television programs that would look at those numbers and not take them in a heartbeat.

Once again it was a great Super Bowl on Sunday night, but once again there were likely an audience of people watching just so they could see the commercials. There were plenty of decent ones, here's a few of the best of the crop from 2012.
In the category for most bizarre commercial for sure is this effort from Pepsi, which features Sir King Elton John, Flavor Flav and possibly some heavy drug use by somebody behind it.
In the 'musicals' category, Hyundai released this advertisement featuring people at work singing the Rocky Theme Song. You know darn well that if you were in a bar and they had the sound on, everyone in there was singing along to this one when they figured out what was going on. There's not that many songs that can do that, except maybe the Rocky Theme, Hey Jude and the William Tell Overture. (Note, I have yet to find a commercial of Hyundai employees singing the William Tell Overture, but have sent them a very nice letter in the hopes that we'll see that for 2013.)
Any advertisement that features John Stamos getting put through trials of pain automatically makes top lists like this. Is it a Yogurt commercial? Who cares? And more importantly, why did John Stamos not receive more punishment for being a Yogurt tease when he deserves it simply for being John Stamos?

Eli Manning had a fantastic game in the Super Bowl, completing 75% of his passes -- a 30 out of 40 clip -- and passing for a touchdown and no interceptions in the New York Giants 21-17 victory over the New England Patriots. His more memorable moments included an absolutely brilliant pass to Mario Manningham late in the fourth quarter which set up the eventual game winning touchdown from Ahmad Bradshaw. Eli finished the game with 296 yards.
This is Eli's second Super Bowl MVP award; he won the 2008 award when his Giants defeated the at the time undefeated Patriots 17-14. In that game, he posted two touchdowns and 255 yards alongside an interception.

After a hard fought and immensely entertaining game, the New York Giants are your Super Bowl Champions for 2012.
The first quarter was all Giants, with a safety from Tom Brady on his first pass play of the game and a Victor Cruz touchdown coming from Eli Manning as the time ticked away. The second quarter saw far more action on the Patriots side of things, as they got a field goal and some perfect play by Tom Brady leading to a late TD and a 10-9 lead going into halftime.
The third quarter featured a quick Aaron Hernandez touchdown to put it at 17-9 for the Patriots, but two straight field goals for Lawrence Tynes made it close once again going into the fourth.
The Giants scored a very late TD thanks to Ahmad Bradshaw with less than a minute remaining in the match, giving Brady a one minute drill to try and bring his Patriots back. Unfortunately, two straight drops and a Justin Tuck sack destroyed the Pats final chances.
This is the Giants fourth Super Bowl victory, and the Patriots fourth Super Bowl loss in their seventh try.

Madonna 'rocked' it during the halftime show at the Super Bowl on Sunday night, teaming up with names like Cee Lo Green and LMFAO to produce an interesting if not drug induced experience.
Personally I think that the Greek meeting Egyptian themes alone make this the most intriguing halftime show in a very long time. That, and Madonna not trying to force something like 'Like A Virgin' into the playlist helped it out quite a bit. No word on what gambling was done on the Madonna halftime show like was done with the National Anthem.

With the score at 10-9 going into the third quarter of play, the New England Patriots used the advantage they had of getting the ball first to their advantage, driving to an Aaron Hernandez touchdown early on. They never replicated the same success, but the New York Giants offense wasn't able to turn it on and respond with any TDs of their own. Tom Brady was an absolute beast after setting the record for most consecutive completions in a Super Bowl by a quarterback.
Later in the quarter, Lawrence Tynes kicked two field goals for the Giants in close range after the Patriots defense began to cover the receivers too well for Eli Manning to overcome it. The fourth quarter will begin with the Patriots holding both the ball and a 17-15 lead in this close game.

Even though the New York Giants opened up a very early 9-0 lead thanks to its defense in Super Bowl XLVI, it is the New England Patriots who lead at halftime thanks to a four yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady to Danny Woodhead.
The Patriots drove 96 yards in 14 plays, one of the longest drives in Super Bowl history, to score just 15 seconds before halftime. Since his early mistake for a safety Brady has been virtually flawless, throwing for 147 yards on 15 of 18 passing. Eli manning has been equally good, throwing 12 of 17 for 120 yards and a score to Victor Cruz in the first quarter.
Wes Welker has four catches for 42 yards.

So far Super Bowl XLVI has been all Giants, as New York has taken advantage of a Tom Brady mistake to open up a 9-0 lead after one quarter. Brady dropped back to pass on New England's first play from scrimmage and threw deep down the field to no one. Intentional grounding was called, and the Giants were awarded a safety.
The Giants then drove the free kick 78 yards in nine plays to score on a two yard touchdown pass to Victor Cruz. that made the lead 9-0 with New England having had the ball for only one play.

For those of you who put big money on Kelly Clarkson's national anthem and whether or not it would go over or under 1:34 before the Super Bowl, you're all likely in for a disappointment. Clarkson's national anthem took exactly 1:34, which would mean it is considered a push.
And for those of you who were betting on Clarkson's clothing selection, she was wearing a plain black shirt as opposed to anything with a team logo on it.
As the game begins, another bet was solved as the coin toss ended up Heads with the Patriots getting the win out of it. There's still plenty more innocuous things to be bet on as the game goes along, so keep the money flowing if you like.

The Super Bowl is an event all by itself, but the commercials will never be forgotten. Some are with the belief that commercials in recent years have been slumping a bit, but if the sneak peek at this year's commercials are any indication, fans everywhere are in for quite the day. Here are a few of the clips that have already been submitted.
The first has to do with barking dogs and Star Wars. Everyone loves dogs, most people love Star Wars, so what does Volkswagen do? Make a commercial with dogs and Star Wars, of course! Here it is:
Pretty awesome. My dog typically just barks at the mailman and whenever the doorbell goes off, so that's pretty incredible to see the pups barking on command like that.
The next commercial looks pretty typical for a sports car, but there's a pretty great twist. Check it out:

Given the long time success in college football by the Ohio State Buckeyes, it is no surprise that a player from the state of Ohio is guaranteedd to get a Super Bowl ring tonight. Tight End Jake Ballard will represent the Buckeyes tonight for the Giants, as will center Jim Cordle.
Chase Blackburn represents the Akron Zips for the Giants, as does Domenik Hixon, who is on injured reserve.
The Patriots have Kent State's Julian Edelman on its roster, giving the Golden Flashes a presence on Super Bowl Sunday. Defensive End Mike Wright of the Cincinnati Bearcats is on the Patriots injured reserve list.

Hey, we all like watching the Super Bowl, but it wouldn't be the same without all the awesome food that's always on the table. While everyone gets pizza, wings and traditional chips and dip, we have something special for you that doesn't take any work at all. It's called the "Mexican Mess Bean Dip", it uses just four ingredients and can be ready in 15 or 20 minutes.
Ingredients:
1 (16 ounce) can fat-free refried beans
1 cup salsa. Medium or hot usually works best, but go with your preference.
4 ounces green chilies
1 cup cheese, shredded. Any kind works, but a Mexican or taco blend will work best.
Directions:
1. Spray a pie plate.
2. Mix all ingredients and place in pie plate.
3. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes or hot in the center.
4. Add extra cheese and anything else you want on top.
Many enjoy the dip with avocado, peppers or extra cheese on top, but go with whatever you think will work best. I would think some shredded or ground beef would work great if you have it on hand, as well. If you have leftovers, many have said it goes great the next day heated up in a tortilla shell.

The Super Bowl has turned into quite the event, even if your favorite team missed the game. Even if you're a little heartbroken about that missed field goal or fumbled punt that would've sent your team to Indianapolis, that doesn't mean you cannot have a great time watching the game. Between the food and drinks, commercials and prop bets to place with your buddies, there's surely something for you to enjoy.
Thanks to the good guys at Bovada, we have gathered a few of the more interesting prop bets for Super Bowl XLVI. Please remember these are just for fun and entertainment purposes only, but hey, if you can score a quick $20 from your college roommate, why not?
How long will it take Kelly Clarkson to sing the National Anthem?
Over one minute, 34 seconds (-130)
Under one minutes, 34 seconds (-110)
National Anthem bets are big this year, especially after the fiasco last season from Christina Aguilera when she forgot the words to the song. Kelly Clarkson is quite the singer and has performed at both the World Series and NBA Finals in the past, where she was clocked right around 92 or 93 seconds. The Super Bowl is an entirely different beast, though, and you have to think she'll go a little longer with the entire world watching.
Smart Bet: Over. I'm guessing it takes about 100 seconds.
What Color will the Gatorade (or liquid) be that is dumped on the Head Coach of the Winning Super Bowl Team?
Clear/water - 3/2
Orange - 5/2
Yellow - 5/2
Blue - 7/1
Red - 7/1
Green - 15/2
There will likely be numerous kinds and flavors of Gatorade on the sidelines along with water, but I have to think there will be plenty of blue to go around. Not only do the Colts wear blue, but the Giants have it as their primary color and the Patriots wear it as well.
Smart Bet: Water is probably the safest bet, but I'd go with blue if I'm putting my money on it.
How many times will Andrew Luck be mentioned on TV during the game?
Over/Under is set for 1: (-120)
Luck has the rare distinction of being the consensus No. 1 overall draft pick and will more than likely be selected by the Colts, who are hosting the game. Those in Vegas have made it clear that it must be a live shot of Luck and they must refer to him by his full name.
Smart Bet: For as big as the NFL Draft is, I think the broadcast will want to focus on the game itself. At the very most I see them mentioning Luck once, but I'd bet the under.
There are plenty of other prop bets to make and these were just a few. Have a great Super Bowl Sunday and win a few bucks. Just don't do anything silly.

The 2012 Super Bowl is finally here and all that's left to do for the New York Giants and New England Patriots is to play the final 60 minutes of the season. While the game has always been available on TV for your viewing pleasure, NBC is doing something revolutionary this time around. Fans from around the country will be able to watch Super Bowl XLVI courtesy of an online stream, legally and free of charge.
Here is where you can go to check out all the action online, including archived commercials once they've aired and exclusive camera angles for those of you viewing through your Internet browser.
What might be the most significant aspect of the legal online stream has to do with the recent SOPA cases in Washington D.C., which would limit what could be downloaded and streamed by everyday users like you and I. With the help of NBC, the NFL does not have to worry about cracking down on illegal streams and video presentations of the game. Instead, they can focus on providing the absolute best broadcast possible, which is what truly matters.
Kickoff of the 2012 Super Bowl will come at 6:29 p.m. ET.
For more on the game and the teams playing, head on over to Big Blue View (Giants) and Pats Pulpit (Patriots).
Despite much of the expert analysis tending to favor the New York Giants to win Super Bowl XVLI, the lines and odds for the game have remained steady in favoring the New England Patriots throughout the two weeks leading up to the big game which attracts plenty of betting action around the world.
According to Bovada, the New England Patriots are three-point favorites to defeat the New York Giants at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Patriots are also one-point favorites to take the lead into halftime before Madonna takes the field. The over/under for the game is currently set at 54 points.
There are plenty of prop bets available on this monster betting day, but wagering on the outcome of the game remains the big bet of the day. So while all of that analysis centered around explaining how the Giants should have an advantage and beat the Patriots, the oddsmakers in Las Vegas and around the world have been steadfast in their support of the Patriots as the favorites to win a tightly contested Super Bowl.

If your Super Bowl party is lacking interesting food options and you're planning on settling for pizza and buffalo wings as you usually do, give it a bit of a kick with some home made mini Turkey wraps. Simple and effective, it gives the people something less greasy to munch on. Below is a bare bones recipe for turkey wraps, it's easy to add whatever else you want into the mix for it.
* Tortillas (large)
* Sliced Deli Turkey
* Lettuce (thin romaine works best)
* Provolone Cheese
* Mayonnaise
* ToothpicksSpread the Tortillas out on a table and spread the mayonnaise evenly on them, layering the other ingredients on top evenly with a heavier emphasis on the turkey. Once finished, roll the tortillas up and chop them up into small wraps, securing each one with a toothpick. Make sure to chill them in the fridge for 12 hours or so before serving.
Of course, that is a very bare-bones recipe for the wraps, you can add whatever other garnishes or vegetables you'd like, or add in other meats like ham to the mix.

So you're hosting a party for the Super Bowl at your place? There's plenty of relatively simple recipes out there that will be crowd pleasers for your party and are relatively easy to put together.
Salsa is always a crowd favorite for the big game. It's relatively easy to make, it's really easy to make a whole lot of it and it's easy as well to make customized salsas depending on your tastes and the tastes of your guests. It can also be a healthy alternative to other favorites like pizza and buffalo wings.
The recipe below is for one batch of a fresh salsa, which will fill about a 1/2 quart cup. It's easy to buy the ingredients in bulk from your local market and throw together big amounts of it if you've got a good food processor.
* Four pitted Roma tomatoes
* One clove of garlic (or more if you really like garlic)
* 1/4 of a yellow bell pepper and 1/4 of an orange bell pepper
* 1/4 of a large red onion
* One Jalapeno
* Lemon/Lime juice to taste
* Cilantro to taste
* Salt to tasteStick all of it into a food processor -- I recommend using a manual food processor so it doesn't all turn to mush, or else you can just chop everything by hand though that will take a little while -- and run it until it's got a pico de gallo consistency.
For a more 'hot' salsa you can add in a Habanero and a couple Serrano peppers in addition to the jalapeno. For a good Queso mix you simply need to melt a chunk of Velveeta or a similar cheese and add the salsa to it, though I would recommend losing the lemon/lime juice and bell peppers, perhaps using fewer tomatoes as well.
Making home made salsa rather than buying a giant tub of it at the store has the added bonus of being healthy for you and tasting far fresher. Buy several bags of chips and set them out next to it and you're good. When you're done you can always tub it up and give it to a health-conscious friend as well rather than having the jar of it sit in your pantry until next year's party when you'll pull it out again.

Eli Manning has now led his New York Giants to two Super Bowl wins since being picked up from the San Diego Chargers after being drafted in 2004. The Giants team in 2012 may have only had nine wins but it was a team that featured a fantastically built defensive corps, a rumbling running game and a quarterback who after winning his second MVP award has to now be in consideration for one of the better QB's of all time.
Of course, the fact that the G-Men have twice now defeated a team with both a coach and quarterback in consideration for the greatest of all time can't hurt their standings in the all time lore of the Super Bowl's history.
Compared to all of the former Super Bowl champions, where do you think that Eli Manning's Giants teams rank in the all time history? Are they better than the Elway-led Denver Broncos teams of the late 90's? The Bradshaw led teams of the 70's? Are the 2012 World Champions the best of the four Giants teams to have won the Super Bowl?
