Browns GM Tom Heckert reportedly started inquiring about other NFL jobs in August

When a new owner takes over a franchise, it's typical that they would replace the high ranking staff with their own preferred individuals. It's no different with the Cleveland Browns, who saw Joe Banner take over as team president for Mike Holmgren on Tuesday, effective immediately. General manager Tom Heckert knew something like this was coming, so he has been asking around the league since August, trying to line up a new job for himself in 2013, according to Fox Sports Ohio.

Heckert worked for the Philadelphia Eagles for nine years under Banner, but that may not be enough to save him a spot in the new organizational hierarchy. One potential landing spot for Heckert would be with the Indianapolis Colts, whose general manager, Tony Grigson, is one of his best friends.

Many members of the Browns staff have ties to Banner from time spent with the Eagles, but there's no guarantee that the staff turnover won't be a sweeping one.
