Browns vs. Chargers: Despite suspension, is Joe Haden having his best season?

David Richard-US PRESSWIRE

Despite a four-game suspension, Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden is having a comeback season after a disappointing 2011 campaign.

After a standout rookie season that saw him intercept six passes, Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden suffered from the dreaded sophomore slump, putting up a goose egg in the interception department in 2011. This year has been a bit rocky thanks to a four-game suspension due to violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, but despite that, Haden is enjoying much more success on the field.

Haden already has two interceptions on the year, and Cleveland has 10 as a team, which surpasses last year's measly total of nine. The young cornerback has an explanation for the increase in turnovers (via Cleveland.com):

"People are just trying to make plays. People just doing their part and basically trying to make a play for the team, not being afraid to take chances."

Also helping matters is the fact that defensive coordinator Dick Jauron has really stressed turnovers this season. Jauron has spent extra time working with his defenders on catching the ball, which is something Haden had some issues with last season.

Haden and the Browns will have their hands full this upcoming weekend when Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers come to town.
