Josh Cribbs seeking more snaps on Browns offense

The Browns' special team maven would like his role on offense expanded.

The Cleveland Browns have been integrating new weapons across the offense this year, from Brandon Weeden and Trent Richardson to Josh Gordon and Travis Benjamin. One component that has gotten lost in the shuffle, though, is wide receiver/kick returner Josh Cribbs. Cribbs said during an interview on Tuesday that he would like to see his role in the offense expand.

"You don't want to be the, ‘me guy,' the guy that always asks to get in," Cribbs said. "But if we were winning it'd be a different story and I'd sit and play my role of special teams. I would definitely love to be able to be on the football field.

Cribbs also said that he believes the Brown should want to get the ball in the hands of the team's athletes and find their strengths. Cribbs has never been a consistent offensive performer, but in 2012 he has just six catches for 54 yards and two rushes for eight yards.

The Browns have won two of their last three games after starting 0-5 on the season. At 2-6, they're still far out of playoff contention, but are at least gathering some momentum. On Sunday they'll host the Baltimore Ravens at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
