The Cleveland Browns won't need to defend against New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks on Sunday, as he has been ruled out for his third straight game.

New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks will not play in Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns, according to Art Stapleton of the The Record.

Sunday will be the third game in a row that Nicks has been ruled out of action. The wideout has been plagued by injuries to his right foot and left knee. The foot -- which has been nagging him since he underwent offseason surgery -- held him out of Week 3, and swelling in his knee forced him to miss the Giants' 19-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday. He was held out of practice on Wednesday, and coach Tom Coughlin announced Thursday that he'd be unavailable for Week 5.

The Giants will likely turn to wide receiver Domenik Hixon in Nicks' absence.

Kickoff for Sunday's Giants vs. Browns game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium, and the game will be televised on CBS.
