Browns injury report: Phil Taylor set to return, Dimitri Patterson still out

Matt Sullivan

Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Phil Taylor could return to the lineup very soon. He says he probably won't start on Sunday, but could see the field in limited action.

The Cleveland Browns are waiting to make sure defensive tackle Phillip Taylor doesn't suffer any last minute setbacks in his recovery from pectoral surgery, but the talented defender should be activated soon and he says he's "ready to go." Taylor admitted he's "probably not going to start" in Week 9 against the Baltimore Ravens, but he also told The News-Herald on Wednesday: "I'm not excited or nervous. Just ready to go."

In the defensive secondary, cornerback Dimitri Patterson missed practice on Wednesday due to a left ankle injury suffered against the Giants back on Oct. 7. When asked about when he would return to the field the CB simply responded by saying: "It's going to take some time."

Cleveland's defense currently ranks No. 25 against the pass and No. 24 against the run, so the unit can use all the help they can get at this point. There have been signs of improvement, however, as the defense has only given up a combined total of 19 points over the last two games while going against talented quarterbacks Andrew Luck and Philip Rivers.

The Browns host the Ravens at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
