Mohamed Massaquoi injury: Browns wideout continues recovery from hamstring problem

Matt Sullivan

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi is close to a return after missing five weeks with a hamstring injury.

Cleveland Browns' wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi appears to be healthy and ready to go for this Sunday's Week 9 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens after missing five games with a hamstring injury. Massaquoi was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, and coach Pat Shurmur said that the receiver "did a good job."

With Massaquoi available, Shurmur will now have a decision to make regarding his wide receivers and who actually plays against Baltimore. Between Massaquoi, Travis Benjamin, and Josh Cooper, one will have to be inactive, but Shurmer does not necessarily see that as a bad thing, via The Chronicle-Telegram:

"I did think that Mo got off to a good start this season and then, of course, the injury set him back. It's a good thing if you've got to make guys inactive or have healthy scratches, so we'll decide here as we go."

Massaquoi started the year strong, catching eight passes for 131 yards in two games before going down with the injury in Week 3. Rookie Josh Gordon assumed his spot, and promptly became a big-play threat for Cleveland. Gordon has 17 catches for 379 yards and four touchdowns on the year. If Mohammed does play, it's unclear what his role will be.
