NFL Free Agency 2012: Peyton Hillis Denies CIA Story; Willing To Give Browns Discount

Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis denied his interest in being a secret agent on Friday. Hillis told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that reports of his interest in retiring and joining the CIA were untrue.

“It makes me sound insane,” Hillis said.

He added his belief that someone planted the report in order to undercut his value as a free agent.

Then again, maybe Hillis is not allowed to confirm the report. Maybe Hillis already is a secret agent, sent to investigate … nah.

Speaking of agents, Hillis explained his reasoning for changing his representation. He said that his agents were getting nothing done in regards to a new contract with the Browns.

Clowning aside, the most important nugget from Hillis’ interview might be his stated willingness to take a discount, at least in how he considers his market value, to remain with the Browns. Hillis added that he feels like the Browns will let him test the market before making an attempt to re-sign him.
